The Barn Carter Sisters Series Book 2 eBook Morgan Dawson Reviews
Book two of the Carter Sisters series was a great read. It addresses the issues of depression and how it effects an entire family. Five sisters survive their father's depression in order to take care of the family farm. The young men they meet help each daughter become stronger.
At 13 this author was better than a lot of adults- thoroughly enjoyed the story & the author had a real grasp of what some pioneer families went through when bad things happened, how they dug in & got the jobs done at very young ages. I know as I grew up on stories of some such things in my own family as told by great, great grandmother & her daughter. I want to see what else this Ms Dawson has written after this.
I really enjoyed this book. I'd recommend it for readers of any age.
Great story and series
Your writing is way more mature than a 13 yr old should be able to process. I have enjoyed The Wagon & The Barn immensely! Best wishes on your future endeavors.
I really enjoyed reading this book. This book has wonderful characters and a wonderful plot. I had a hard time putting this wonderful book down. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this wonderful series.
Morgan Dawson, a new teenager herself, is already and outstanding author as both books in this series shows. I love the series and am definitely looking forward to the next book. I felt so much anger radiating from Adeline regarding her father and his lack of concern while dealing with his own grief over the loss of his wife. However, then and now, a parent has an obligation to see their child's needs comes first. It seems to have been easier for her sisters to forgive her father; but was it? Her father "seems" to be trying; but dare she trust him? Thankfully a young man, August, comes into her life at that moment and his words of wisdom, thanks to his own grief, guides her. What must it have been like to live in a time period where there was nothing in town but a mercantile? What did the parents do to make sure their children were educated at least to some degree? What was it like to have to worry about financially providing for a family, as well as caring for the home? Were things really simpler then? When Adeline's father fell and was injured, what was it like to have no doctor moments away, or a hospital to take him to? What happens when someone is on the verge of death? How do young children deal with taking care of the home, property and parent? This book raised so many questions for me personally and that made me love the story more. I definitely recommend this book for all age groups as a must read!!!
